Fischer Panda UK to Exhibit at the 25th Edition of Seawork International Presenting the Latest Mobile Power Solutions and UK’s First All-Electric Fishing Vessel

Fischer Panda UK announce their attendance at the 25th edition of Seawork International, exhibiting from their customised full demonstration trailer on stand Q84. The specialist power solution team will be on hand at this year’s show to present the latest addition to their tailored power solutions line up; Clayton Power’s cutting-edge LPS II range, and to provide insights into their involvement with the pioneering project of the UK’s first all-electric fishing vessel.

UK’s first all-electric fishing vessel

West Scotland based fishing vessel skipper and boatbuilder, Hans Unkles worked with Fischer Panda UK to convert 1978 Cygnus GM21 Lorna Jane to all-electric and solar power, breaking ground in the potential of the first all-electric commercially viable fishing vessel on the UK register.

With a desire to find a sustainable, zero emissions solution for the vessel and with ongoing improvements in battery technology and electric propulsion, the boat owner opted for Fischer Panda’s Aziprop 20kw 1200rpm Pod drive to power the vessel.

The Fischer Panda Pod drive provided the versatility required, enabling the installation to adapt around the final power specifications and layout as the project progressed over almost a one-year period.

“I chose the Pod drive primarily for space but also because the original propeller and rudder layout was pretty rubbish. The main Pod drive advantages are better efficiency, no cooling of the motor required, no hull penetrations, so a completely dry and clean battery room.

Once the batteries, Pod and control gear were installed, the rest was a standard fit out. The Pod is arguably more efficient than a shaft drive with constant water cooling and it offers very good, powered, manoeuvrability. All in, it is every bit or more controllable compared to what I have been used to.” said Hans on completion of the installation.

A film has been released mapping the inspirational project and documenting the real-life struggles of converting the UK’s first fishing boat to solar and electric power to fish at a commercially viable level. Portable Power

Show visitors can also explore Clayton Power’s All-in-One Lithium Power Supply units at Fischer Panda UK’s stand, which offer an efficient and powerful mobile solution for marine applications requiring small to medium levels of onboard portable power.

With the ability to be charged from the boat’s alternator and renewable sources while out on the water to power onboard equipment, Clayton Power’s LPS II units also prioritise environmental sustainability and user convenience, offering a hassle-free power source for users on the go, without the need for expensive complete system overhauls.

Onboard Power

Also on display will be the Panda 4000s Neo and the Panda 5000i Neo, which are leading additions to power solution expert Fischer Panda UK’s range of compact diesel generators. Perfectly suited to smaller vessels and canal boats with limited space looking for independence away from marinas or shore power, Fischer Panda’s Neo Panda generators offer ideal suitability for commercial cruising and liveaboard vessels.

Full Solutions

Fischer Panda UK’s longstanding brand partner Mastervolt will also have a presence on the stand this year showcasing power electronics solutions designed to meet the on-board energy requirements of the marine market.

In addition to power solutions, Fischer Panda UK will display a range of AC and DC Parker watermakers suitable for some of the world’s most demanding applications from light commercial craft to commercial fishing vessels, with flexible installation options to suit a range of applications.

As one of the most well-established names in marine air-conditioning, Dometic’s self-contained reverse cycle cooling units are also on display. Ideal for boats up to approximately 75ft, the system can be conveniently concealed under a bunk or seat, making these versatile units suitable for varying commercial applications.

Offering visitors at Seawork International a unique and interactive experience, the customised Fischer Panda UK trailer on Stand Q84 offers expert advice and insights to learn about the equipment in a more practical way. With company specialists on hand to discuss and advise on the most suitable power solution options for specific vessels, Fischer Panda UK looks forward to welcoming you to their stand.
