Peters & May celebrates successful racing season as a sponsor for the 52 SUPER SERIES

P&M’s role as the official logistics supplier for this prominent yacht racing event reflects the firm’s passion and expertise

Southampton, UK, November 19th, 2021 – With 12 strategically-located international offices and more than four decades of experience, Peters & May (P&M) has established itself as the leading provider of bespoke global transport solutions. As 2021 draws to a close, the company is especially proud to report a successful season in its capacity as the official logistics supplier for the 52 SUPER SERIES. The world’s most prestigious grand prix monohull yacht racing circuit celebrated its 10th season in 2021, and P&M was a key presence at all events in the series’ racing calendar.

Having been a sponsor of the 52 SUPER SERIES since the 2015 season, P&M has a close relationship with the event which reflects the company’s long and enthusiastic involvement with racing logistics. This began many years ago with the iconic Whitbread Round the World Race: P&M’s demonstrable ability to transport precious racing yachts, plus their containers and equipment, within strict deadlines and in absolute safety further enhanced the company’s already trustworthy reputation. The intervening years have consequently seen P&M devising yacht racing logistics solutions for other high-profile events such as the Admiral’s Cup, America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race.

For the 2021 52 SUPER SERIES, P&M not only handled the transportation of all high-performance TP52 racing yachts but also 95% of the fleet containers for all three events. The first of these was the Puerto Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week in Mallorca in August, followed by the Menorca 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week in September/October and the ROLEX TP52 World Championship RCNP 2021 in the first week of November. P&M is already gearing up to take care of the logistics for next year’s 52 SUPER SERIES as the provisional race locations are finalised. The full race calendar will be revealed at the first event of the new season in May 2022.

“Peters & May is not just a sponsor, it is a fundamental part of the best monohull circuit in the world,” says Agustín Zulueta, CEO of the 52 SUPER SERIES. “Having a logistics provider with the reliability and precision of Peters & May has allowed us to grow and achieve all the goals we’d set for ourselves, however ambitious they were. And in 2021, a year of global crisis, they ensured that our plans to move forward with the regatta could be carried out smoothly despite the many changes we had to make.

“Having Peters & May and Justo Gosalbes at the helm gives us a real sense of security in preparing for the 2022 season,” Zulueta continues. “We will be able to face new challenges with the confidence that everything will be perfectly coordinated and ready to bring the 52 SUPER SERIES action to five venues in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.”

“It’s a genuine pleasure for all of us at P&M to provide logistics solutions for the 52 SUPER SERIES,” adds Justo Gosalbes, MD, Peters & May, Spain. “To begin with, we are passionate fans of yacht racing, so our devotion is assured from the ground up. More than that, however, our extensive history with the yacht racing community gives us a special insight into the very particular demands that surround the transportation of racing yachts. The planning and execution have to be thorough and flawless to ensure that the yachts are safely and promptly delivered where they need to be, irrespective of circumstance; and these are qualities at which we as a company excel. We can then share in the excitement with the teams and organisations at the races themselves.”
